[뉴욕증시] FOMC 긴축발작 WSJ '투자주의" 220개 종목

미국 뉴욕증시에서 가장 큰 영향력을 행가하고 있는 일간 경제신문인 월스트릿저널(WSJ) 시가총액 100억달러 이상 기업 가운데 220여 곳의 주식이 고점 대비 20% 이상 떨어졌다고 밝혔다.

뉴욕증시에서는 통상 전고점대비 20%이상 떨어닌 종목을 약세장 진입 종목으로 분류한다. 이 종목이 많아지면 나스닥 다우지수등이 종합적으로 약세장 즉 베어장에 접어들었다고 볼 수 있다.
18일 뉴욕증시에 따르면 월스트리트저널(WSJ)이 20%상 하락 종목으로 지정한 기업은 스탠더드앤드푸어스(S&P)500지수 구성 종목인 월트디즈니, 넷플릭스, 세일즈포스, 트위터 등이다. 이 신문은 또선다이얼 캐피털리서치의 제이슨 괴퍼트를 인용해 나스닥지수 종목 가운데 39%가 고점 대비 반 토막 났다고 보도했다. 나스닥 지수는 전고점보다 약 7% 하락했다. 괴퍼트는 닷컴버블 무렵인 1999년 이후 나스닥지수가 이처럼 높은 가운데 여러 종목이 이렇게 많이 떨어진 적은 없었다고 강조했다. 올 들어 미국 증시는 2주 연속 하락했다. S&P500지수는 2.2%, 나스닥지수는 4.4% 각각 내려갔다. 미국 연방준비제도이사회가 올해 들어서자마자 공격적 금리 인상과 양적 긴축의 신호를 보내면서 국채 금리가 치솟고 그와중에 얏세장 진입종목이 크게 늘어나고 있다.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite has been particularly turbulent. Around 39% of the stocks in the index have at least halved from their highs, according to Jason Goepfert at Sundial Capital Research, while the index is roughly 7% off its peak. At no other point since at least 1999—around the dot-com bubble—have so many Nasdaq stocks fallen that far while the index was this close to its high, Mr. Goepfert said.

The selloff in many individual stocks highlights how shaky the stock market’s 2022 has been. U.S. stocks last week posted a second-straight weekly decline, dragging the S&P 500 and Nasdaq down 2.2% and 4.8%, respectively, to start the year.
