미주 증권감독위원회 연합기구(NASAA) 금융시장 사기 공동 대처 , 67개 정부 동참

[글로벌이코노믹 연구소 김대호 소장 /경제학 박사] 미주 대륙 증권감독당국 협의체가 미국의 5곳 가상화폐 관련업체를 사기업체로 규정하고 폐쇄시키기로 의견을 모았다.

이같은 소식이 알려지면서 비트코인 이더리움 리플등 가상화폐 시세는 요동치고 있다.
30일 미국 뉴욕증시에 따르면 미국 캐나다 버진 아일랜드 멕시코 등 미주대륙의 67개 감독당국으로 구성된 미주 대륙 증권감독당국 협의체 (NASAA)는 이날 미국 앨라배마등에서 영업중인 5곳 가상화폐 관련업체가 사기성이 높다는 데 인식을 같이했다고 발표했다.

NASAA는 이같은 사실은 50개 회원국 감독위원회와 해당 업체에 통보했다.

Five Firms Hit by ‘Crypto-Sweep’ in Alabama as Regulators Step up Operation

Cease and desist letters have been sent to five crypto companies operating in Alabama, as part of the ongoing “Operation Crypto-Sweep.” The campaign, led by the North American Securities Administrators Association, is targeting ICO projects and blockchain startups suspected of fraudulent activities and violations of existing securities laws. Actions have been taken already by NASAA members in a number of states and provinces in North America.

Three LA-Based Companies Among the Targeted, The Alabama Security Commission (ASC) has recently taken enforcement actions in five investigations as part of “Operation Crypto-Sweep.” The international crackdown on fraudulent Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and crypto-related investment products is coordinated by the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA), a voluntary organization whose membership consists of 67 state, provincial, and territorial securities administrators in the US, Canada and Mexico, of which the ASC is also a member. The Commission has issued a total of five cease and desist orders “to protect Alabamians”, according to an official announcement.
한편 영국 금융청(FCA)도 암호화폐 기업들의 금융법 위반 혐의를 잡고 모두 24곳을 조사하고 있다.

금융청의 한 관계자는 이번 조사의 목적은 소비자 보호라면서 문제 활동이 초래할 수 있는 소비자 피해의 심각성에 따라 조치를 취하겠다고 말했다.

영국 금융청(FCA)은 또 정보요청 공개법에 따라 암호화폐 관련 내부고발 사례 7건을 공개했다.

이에앞서 미국 법무부는 암호화폐 가격 조작 관련 조사를 시작했다.

24일 암호화폐 거래전문가 란 노이너는 "시장 규제는 산업계에 자금이 들어올 문을 개방하는 것과 같다"면서 "규제화 과정인 단속과 조사가 시장에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있다"고 주장하기도 했다

사기성 가상화폐 본격 단속에 나선 NASAA는 어떤 곳?

Organized in 1919, the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) is the oldest international organization devoted to investor protection. NASAA is a voluntary association whose membership consists of 67 state, provincial, and territorial securities administrators in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, and Mexico.

In the United States, NASAA is the voice of state securities agencies responsible for efficient capital formation and grass-roots investor protection. Their fundamental mission is protecting consumers who purchase securities or investment advice, and their jurisdiction extends to a wide variety of issuers and intermediaries who offer and sell securities to the public.


NASAA members license firms and their agents, investigate violations of state and provincial law, file enforcement actions when appropriate, and educate the public about investment fraud.

Through the association, NASAA members also participate in multi-state enforcement actions and information sharing. NASAA also coordinates and implements training and education seminars annually for state/district/provincial and territorial securities agency staff.
